A new streaming service has arrived, thanks to Paramount Pictures. Paramount+ will be debuting in March. What’s important to know is that Paramount+ will actually be a merger of CBS All Access in addition to new content.
On March 4th CBS All Access will officially change its name to Paramount+. So what sort of content does a subscription to Paramount+ get for a potential subscriber? The Paramount+ streaming service will give streamers access to content from Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, CBS, and the Smithsonian Channel. Subscribers will also get exclusive access to new films like Spongebob: Sponge on the Run, which was actually released in the U.K last November but has yet to debut in the U.S
Paramount+ subscribers will be able to watch CBS All Access exclusive shows like Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Discovery, The Stand, and more. There will also be a film catalog of 6,000 Paramount Pictures movies to choose from. Subscribers will also get access to the newest movies from Paramount Pictures within a year of their release in theaters.
What Will It Cost? Do I Have To Make a New Account if I’m Already Subscribed to CBS All Access?
The good news is that CBS All Access subscribers will not have to make a new account for Paramount+ when the changeover occurs on March 4th. All any existing subscribers have to do is download the Paramount+ app and log in with their existing CBS All Access information.
Pricing is $5.99 a month for a limited commercials subscription, or $9.99 a month for a premium no-commercial subscription.
According to a Mashable report, anyone that signs up for a CBS All Access subscription before the debut of Paramount+ can get 50% off an annual subscription with the promo code PARAMOUNTPLUS.
A Note For Owners of Second and Third Generation Apple TV’s
The CBS All Access app will no longer work on second and third generation Apple TV’s on March 4th. A notice from CBS notified Apple TV users what devices the new Paramount+ app will be compatible with. (This was first spotted by MacRumors.)
Some other new original programming that will be exclusive to Paramount+ includes the highly anticipated iCarly reboot, a reboot of The Game, a behind-the-scenes series that explores the filming of The Godfather called The Offer, a Behind The Music reboot and more. Subscribers will also be able to watch all of the South Park episodes.
Check out the Paramount+ Super Bowl ad below featuring prominent figures from programming that will be available on the new streaming service, plus a callback to an iconic Spongebob episode.
Subscribers will also get access to popular shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race, Awkwafina is Nora From Queens, The Daily Show, Paw Patrol: Ready Race Rescue and more. The app definitely looks promising with access to a lot of familiar and new programming. Will you be subscribing to Paramount+?
